CARDIFF City and Robbie Fowler have been threatening goals would come and boy did both arrive at West Brom.
The slick, first-time passing game, loaded with back flicks and perfectly weighted balls into space, all came together in a breathtaking first half-hour which produced four quick-fire goals from the Bluebirds.
And as the dust settled on a comfortable win, Fowler admitted that while its nice to have a decent cup run, the priorities lay elsewhere.
If we were honest with ourselves the League is the priority, and we must now take that form and kick-start our Championship campaign, he told the Echo
Of course, we can take a lot of heart from the cup performance, but we must continue at that level in the league programme.
We did a very professional job at West Bromwich Albion and we knew that we had to play well and we surprised them, especially with the start we had.
Its all very well watching out for the goalscorers, but its not one individual that will get us promoted its the team.
The Bluebirds left the Hawthorns with an extra spring in their step and must now produce the goods at Barnsley on Saturday.
We have been threatening to do that all season, said Fowler. The games against Stoke and Coventry were very similar, the only difference being that we stuck the ball in the net against West Brom.
The former Liverpool legends fitness at the start of the season has been one of the main talking points on the terraces, but the 32-year-old, who missed pre-season training, insists he is not far away from declaring himself 100 per cent fit.
People are quick to point out that I have had an indifferent start, but they forget the lack of competitive games I have actually had.
Fitness-wise, Im not the best, but I know what I can do. In the last few games Ive been pretty happy with my form.
Training-wise I feel good, but my match practice is missing because youre using different muscles and I do feel tired towards the end of the games, added Fowler.
Another player short on match practice is central defender Glenn Loovens, who returned to the City defence, producing a sterling display.
It was good to get back on the pitch, said Loovens, I have not completed a training session yet, so it was good that I came through.
