Fowler left struggling with back problem

South Wales Echo, 17 Sept 2007

ROBBIE Fowler suffered with a back problem all week before the match at Plymouth Argyle and was only passed fit on the morning of the Championship clash at Home Park.

"Robbie got up on Saturday morning and his back felt a lot easier," said manager Dave Jones.

"We didn't want to start him and then found he had to come off after 20 minutes, but when we were two goals down it was time to change things."

And Fowler went on to play a part in both of Cardiffs goals as they hit back to earn a 2-2 draw and extend their unbeaten away run to three matches seven points from nine on the road.

"Robbie has struggled all week with his back and he has had treatment including a massage every day, while a specialist cracked his back," added Jones.

Fowler is likely to have further treatment to ensure he is ready for Wednesday's home clash with Watford at Ninian Park.

Cardiff City have become the focus of attention for many more fans now they have the likes of Fowler, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Trevor Sinclair in their squad.

"Because of the players Cardiff City have we are there to be shot at," said Jones. "Our hotel was crammed with people looking for autographs on Friday and our players have to deal with that."
