ROBBIE Fowler owes his schoolboy idol, Everton striker Graeme Sharp, a Cardiff City shirt.
Sharp needs it to complete his son’s collection of Fowler shirts from Liverpool, Leeds United, Manchester City and England.
“I’ve given Graeme one of my shirts from all the clubs I’ve played for – and an England one, too, for his lad, Chris,” said Fowler.
“I supported Everton as a boy and used to idolise Sharpie. The first game I can remember was a 4-1 defeat against Tottenham on the opening day of 1984-85.
“They went on to win the title despite that poor start.
“I used to idolise Sharpie. Years later I used to bump into him in town. He’s a great lad.
“Graeme asked if I could get one of my Liveprool shirts for his lad Chris and I said no problem – so long as he gave me one of his old Everton shirts. He did – and I’ve still got it at home.”
And now Fowler will bring the Sharp shirt collection up to date by handing over a Cardiff City jersey.
He has linked up with two other Scousers at Ninian Park – manager Dave Jones and fitness coach Alex Armstrong.
It was Jones who first said to Fowler ‘Come and play for me at Cardiff’.
And Jones was an Everton defender at a time Fowler was a regular at Goodison Park cheering on the Toffees.
Fowler, though, only had eyes for Sharp.
