Fowler earns new Liverpool dealFrom itv.com, 5 May 2006Former England striker Robbie Fowler is to sign a new one-year contract with FA Cup finalists Liverpool next week. The 31-year-old hitman has scored four goals since Reds boss Rafael Benitez brought him back to Anfield from Manchester City at the start of the year. And Benitez said: "This is fantastic news. Robbie has done really well and he deserves this. He has scored some vital goals for us and he has worked really hard. I am delighted to have him with us for next season. He is an important member of our squad." Fowler, who returned to Anfield on a six-month contract, believes that the Reds are moving in the right direction, adding of his new deal: "I can't put my feelings into words. This is something I have wanted for a long time. "I was buzzing when I got a six-month deal so you can imagine how happy I am to have been given another year. I am absolutely over the moon. I feel as though I've done all right and the manager has been pleased with me as well. I'm looking forward to next season now." And, with Benitez's men chasing second place behind Premiership champions Chelsea, Fowler is upbeat about the future at Anfield, telling reporters: "This club is going places. If you look at the table this season compared to last season there's been a big improvement. Hopefully we can take it a little bit further next season." Fowler continued: "I would love to be part of a Liverpool side that wins the league championship and I am sure the manager is on the right lines towards achieving it."
